This was last weekend when the weather was nice and I didn't have to work.

Happy Anniversary!

To my lovely parents. You are the envy and inspiration for many people who still believe in love.

It was Mom and Dad's 34th anniversary yesterday.


Thirty-four years of hugs and kisses, of differences and compromises.
Thirty-four years of communism and tyranny with absolutely no rationality nor democracy.

But it was thirty-four years of joy and laughter, with a growing family looking forward to a happily ever after.

Long live the King and the Queen!

Trading Styling Tips

Bello really gets to go everywhere! I was doing post production and Mom and Dad were going to a movie so I volunteered to dogsit. Almost everyone working over the 228 holiday really liked him. He was really well behaved, too.

Bello Shmello Marshmallow

This guy Bello (the Weimaraner that we adopted) gets to go EVERYWHERE. Because Mom and Dad are afraid that he and Uncle King will get into more (literally) bloody flights with each other when left alone, he always gets to go out with Mom. Sometimes grocery shopping at the traditional market. Sometimes on a drive to wherever. Sometimes to Grandma's for a few hours. Sometimes to the hot springs too!

Mom was saying when she was checking in at the counter at a relative's hot spring facility in Wulai, he stood up, put his hands on the counter and tried to "help out."

Looks like Bello Shmello Marshmallow is fitting in juuuuuust fine. Not perfectly, but nothing is perfect anyway. And things will always get better. I am hopeful.

This is from last September when we were in Kyoto. Talk about fiery hot and explosive! I didn't know the flame practically licked the roof until I saw the slow motion video.


After you order the fiery scallion ramen, the owner will give people with long hair a rubber bands to all of it back so it doesn't get set on fire. Then you get a bib to keep your clothes from catching oil spray (yes, that is oil that he pours into your ramen). And you're told to put your hands behind your back and lean back. His rules are don't get up and don't run away while he pours.

Scary, but fun. Haha.

The entertainment value was quite high and the ramen was decent. I'd go with friends again.

The silly faces in the end were per the owner's request. He likes to take pictures of his customers looking like that.

Oh the slow motion video was fun. I used a Casio EX-ZR10 point-and-shoot which takes slow motion video (at low resolution). It works well when there is lots of light, but obviously quite poorly otherwise. Overall, I'm quite happy with it. Only paid about TWD5500 and it was new, too.

結果今天沒人送我花，連每為了可憐我年情人節都送我花的爸媽也都沒送我花。

過年少不了過度的吃吃喝喝，

這是有半世紀歷史的「添財」台式日本料理店

這個印象深刻，好吃！

前菜吃完後面就忘了拍了。

心理算一算，

以當天的料理，

食材，

和服務品質，

一人最多最多一千二吧。

沒想到五個人吃了快一萬。

繼高玉，這是一個月內讓我（（驚））的第二家餐廳。

結果當天晚上和爸媽回到淡水吃「鮮流坊」

感覺一人大概吃了兩千，

但三人總共三千九。

還是覺得鮮流坊物超所值，

老闆阿迪的態度也令人讚嘆。

Japanese restaurant Xianliufang really has great food and service for the price.

Two thumbs up.

And where was I? On assignment at the zoo, in the rain. Not complaining, just giving some contrast to the picture. :D

Shing-Peng-Lai 興蓬萊 really is a tasty restaurant. My favorite is the fried taro ball 酥炸芋頭丸. But it's usually so packed that there are people practically spilling out the windows. I highly suggest bringing along more family members and friends, and get a private room when going. We never do, and I always end up wishing that we did. Maybe we never get a room because there are always VIP's like former President Lee Teng-hui in there. This is one of his favorite restaurants, for good reason.
